AP-280 Jars

Description

Zip-Chem® AP 280 is a two-component kit that is comprised of uncatalyzed silicone resin with a select grade of aluminum powder that is packaged separately. Once the silicon resin and aluminum powder are thoroughly mixed and applied to the substrate, AP 280 will thicken to a "putty-like" consistency. This putty-like consistency will exhibit a high degree of flexibility and adhesion while functioning as an excellent heat sink.

 

Application of Product

AP 280 is listed on the QPL for DPM 5979. It was also formulated specifically for use when changing the static port heater element on DC-9 and MD-80 powerplants. The non-curing and pressure sensitive putty/aluminum mix should be applied with a spatula at approximately 15 mils thick. Next, the mix should stand for 1 - 2 hours to gain "tack". Finally, the mix should be manipulated to lay the heater element into the putty compound.

 

Features

AP 280 will maintain an excellent bond while exhibiting vibration resistance and flexibility over a very broad temperature range from -100°F to 550°F in continuous service. AP 280 is pre-ratioed and both components should be mixed completely just prior to being applied to an area.
