Zip-Chem® ZC-440 Fluorocarbon Dry Lubricant is a fluorocarbon telomer that is chemically similar to the Teflon* PTFE-fluorocarbon resin. Due to its chemical inertness and ability to withstand temperatures from the cryogenic range up to 240°F (116°C), ZC-440 finds many uses throughout the aircraft. ZC-440 also prevents corrosion on metal substrates and provides a lubricating surface for them. When using this material in bulk form, it must constantly be agitated.

The Zip-Chem® ZC-440 fluorocarbon is designed primarily for use as a dry film lubricant or mold release where it is applied to cold or warm surfaces (less than 240°F). It is formulated to provide the highest adhesion possible to the substrate and still provide a good release or lubricating properties. ZC-440 can be applied to slat tracks to prevent corrosion and provide lubrication without the build-up of debris that is typically found if greases and oils are used. ZC-440 is also available in aerosol form as D-5440NS.
